I don’t recall what our original plans for Sapa were, but we had initially only booked 3 nights in Sapa, at Pao’s Sapa Leisure Hotel, and figured we’d play it by ear after that in case we’d had enough and wanted to head back to Hanoi.
We had such a fantastic time though that we later decided to try some bungalow-style hotels after our 3 days at Pao’s Sapa was up. I’ll be posting about those hotels soon, but for now, let’s get on with my review of Pao’s Sapa Leisure Hotel…

Pao’s Sapa Leisure Hotel
The Location
Pao’s Sapa hotel is located in Sapa Town, but outside of the main touristy area, which is a good thing if you’re looking for a more quiet place to stay. It’s about a 5 to 10 minute drive from the town center, and the hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the center at scheduled times throughout the day.
The hotel is also located on a hillside, which overlooks the Muong Hoa Valley, and offers some absolutely stunning views of the surrounding rice terraces.
The Lobby and Restaurant
The lobby is quite spacious, and has an interesting seating area (which I of course forgot to take pics of! 😑) facing the restaurant.
When you first arrive, the staff greet you with an absolutely delicious welcome drink. I have no idea what it was - some sort of mixed melon and fruit juice - but it was so good that I had to ask for a second one. It was a bit sweet but not too much, and really refreshing.
We only ate at the restaurant for breakfast on 2 of the days we stayed there, but the selection of breakfast food was really good, and the food was pretty delicious.
As a tea drinker, my only beef is that the black tea is super super weak. But that’s a common problem in Vietnam, so they’re not alone in that regard.
The restaurant also offers fantastic views of the rice terraces from the restaurant balcony, so you can sit back, relax, and bask in the incredible lush views while you eat.
It’s an amazing way to start the day, and the perfect way to end it too, if you’re having dinner there.
Our Room
We booked one of the Deluxe Valley view rooms, which isn’t the most expensive or luxurious of the rooms they have available, but it was a good size for us, and it was clean and quite modern.
The bathroom was a decent size, and had a large shower with the typical rainfall shower head that you see in a lot of hotels. The water pressure was also quite good, which isn’t always the case with hotels in Vietnam.
Most importantly though, the valley-view rooms have a fantastic view of the incredible rice terrace backdrop, which was one of the requirements we had when booking the hotel.
Now I wouldn’t say the view we had was the best the hotel has to offer, as I’m guessing those are reserved for the suites, but it was still a pretty amazing view. Honestly, waking up to the view we had every morning was just incredible, especially with the morning mist that rolls in and out of the valley while enjoying a nice cup of tea (or coffee if that’s your thing)!
The Indoor Pool
We only had time to take advantage of the indoor pool once, but it was a really nice pool. It’s heated, and although the pool is a pretty decent size, it’s quite shallow, so not really a great pool for swimming laps.
Kids Play Area
While perhaps not a major selling point of the hotel, they also have a kids play area, which is great if you’re travelling with children like we were. It’s a small area, but it’s got a few toys and games to keep the little ones entertained.
Other Facilities at the Hotel
And finally, there’s a bunch of other facilities at Pao’s Sapa hotel that I didn’t even realize at the time! There’s a spa, a club, a bar, and even a karaoke bar! You can find more info about those in the facilities section of their website.
My Verdict
I was initially a bit hesitant about staying at Pao’s Sapa hotel, as it was a bit further from the town center than I thought I would have liked. But in the end, I was glad it was a bit further out as it made for a more calm, quiet, and relaxing stay.
Our room was clean and modern, with incredible views of the Muong Hoa valley rice terraces, which made the mornings and evenings so wonderfully relaxing.
The restaurant, which I only had breakfast at and so can’t vouch for lunch or dinner, had a fantastic selection of Western and Vietnamese breakfast foods (which isn’t something you always find at hotels in Vietnam), and the food was delicious.
All in all, I really enjoyed my stay at Pao’s Sapa hotel, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing stay in Sapa.
I was honestly really sad to leave, and really wanted to extend our stay there. But alas, we had other hotels in Sapa we were about to explore!
Until next time,
michael 😀
