Interesting facts about Thailand
Thailand is one of the last countries to have a monarchy. The current king is King Maha Vajiralongkorn, who has been the king since 2016. The king however has very little power, and the country is run by the prime minister.
Thailand used to be called Siam, and was the only country in Southeast Asia to avoid being colonized by a European power.
Human habitation in present-day Thailand may date back to around 20,000 years ago, and evidence of rice-growing dates back to 2,000 BCE.
