Travel, coding, and some peace of mind.
Hi there! Any travel plans this year? I'm Baldo, also known as Michael, a Canadian full-stack web application developer and travel enthusiast.
Re: Travel
I wouldn't say I'm a seasoned, or even expert traveller. In fact, I didn't really start travelling until I was in my mid to late-twenties. It was my first time travelling outside of North America back then, and it left such an impression on me that I've been hooked ever since!
Since that first big trip outside of North America to a small island off the southeastern coast of East Africa, I've travelled to several countries in the UK, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Travelling isn't my full-time job though, so I can only do so in my off-time, and when money permits. It's something that I try to prioritize though, and hope to keep doing for many years to come.
When I'm not travelling, I'm usually coding, or planning my next coding project!
Re: Coding
My foray into computer programming started in the mid 1990's, when I began to learn QBasic, but quickly switched to C and Assembler after experiencing QBasic's limitations.
Not long after, when the internet was still in its infancy, I started to play with the HTML, JavaScript, and CSS that was available at the time (it was all pretty basic back then!).
Then, around the year 2000, I started developing websites professionally using PHP and MySQL. I had to take a break from programming for a number of years though, due to a turn in the job market, but got back into it around 2010 when I started developing web apps for one of Canada's major telecoms.

Re: My Blog
I started this blog as a way to share my personal travel and dev experiences, hoping that my experiences and tips might help others. I mean, sharing is caring, right? 😁
I post and work on this blog when time permits, so it's still very much a work-in-progress.
You can navigate straight to the tech or travel sections depending on what you're interested in, which are linked here as well as in the main menu above. Once on those pages, you can filter posts by clicking on the category tags to the right or beneath each post preview.
If you've found anything on this blog useful or helpful, or want to help with the maintenance costs, consider buying me a coffee!
